Mrs. Doubtfire is based on the 1993 hit comedy movie starring the late Robin Williams. The story follows actor Daniel Hillard, who is unemployed, as he assumes the appearance of an elderly Scottish woman in order to obtain employment as a nanny for his own children after losing custody in a divorce. He charms his way into their lives and establishes himself as a constant. But as suspicions about Mrs. Doubtfire’s true identity begin to surface, it appears that he will require much more than a cosmetic makeover to protect himself from the fallout.
The musical, which had music and lyrics by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, had its premiere in 2019 at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre before moving to Broadway in 2021. May saw the start of the West End run of the musical after its U.K. debut in Manchester in the Fall of 2022.
From the brains behind “Something Rotten!” and “Hello, Dolly!” This glorious production captures the film’s original fun and chaos – with added theatrical pizazz! It’s a hilarious story, one that everyone needs right now. It’s fun, fresh, and laugh out loud relatable.

I am thrilled that audiences across the country are not only going to be able to laugh and tear-up at Rob’s landmark performance, but also see a magical onstage chemistry with Maggie, a major talent who I first met when she starred in the national tour of Avenue Q. Our show is all about family, so to have Rob and Maggie leading this on the road, it couldn’t be more perfect.”
