In October, the musical’s next season brings it to a new location in Rochester, where the celebrated musical will be performed in West Herr Auditorium Theatre on Friday 18th October 2024. West Herr Auditorium Theatre was masterfully built and prepared as the top theater venue of Rochester, accommodating a well-crafted stage and seating setup that is sizeable enough to have a show of this level, while also having appropriate amenities that are available in the theater.
The musical revolves around the tale of Jean Valjean, a parolee desperately searching for a second chance after breaks free from the chain gang. Valjean's whole story, and his ultimate fate, are performed with everything lyricized from the beginning to the final act of the incredible show. Les Mis being lyricized from beginning to end is a storytelling tactic that the show has over other known Broadway productions, and is the main cause why each minute of the play never fails in its objective of in every word or note sung.
It's quite unique and because of this manner, the show is also full of unforgettable ballads and anthems. Interestingly, even with the collection of songs that can be heard in the show, each cast member in the stage adaptation is able to be highlighted, with each individual number showing the vocal range of each actor. Neither theatergoers nor film viewers of Les Mis can fail to recall Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which carries with the ballad a deep tragedy and has been performed without end by other artists in contemporary television. “Bring Him Home” also emotionally moves viewers to tears all the time, subtly showing us the redemption of Valjean's character in only one totally unforgettable performance.
